The “Old City” is the heart of our capital, which holds many secrets and fascinating stories. Walking around the Old City, you can not pass by the most attractive masterpieces of Baku architecture - the Shirvanshahs Palace and the Maiden’s Tower. Dozens of historical monuments are located on the territory of the old city - a market square, mosques, caravanserais, baths, houses, and the famous workshop of Ali Shamsi. It is also impossible to ignore the old cobblestone street where the films “The Diamond Arm” and “The Amphibian Man” were shot. It is worth visiting souvenir shops and try the national cuisine in one of the local colorful restaurants.

If desired, you can visit a wine boutique for tasting local wines (for an additional fee).

The Museum of Petroglyphs - the so-called Gobustan - is a mountainous place in the southeast of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range, located 65 km from Baku. It was here that the ancient sites of primitive people were found, leaving behind a lot of rock paintings - petroglyphs.

If desired, you can visit the mud volcanoes (for an additional fee).

13:00 - 14:00. Lunch (extra charge)

14:00 - 18:00. Start of the Excursion in Absheron (Ateshgah, Gala Complex, Yanardag).

Ateshgah Temple of Eternal Flame is one of the most popular attractions in Baku. It is located 30 km from the center of Baku, on the outskirts of the village of Surahani. This area is known for such a unique natural phenomenon as burning outlets of natural gas. In its modern form, the temple was built in the XVII-XVIII centuries. It was built by the Hindu community living in Baku, belonging to the Sikh caste. However, the history of Ateshgah temple is much more ancient. Since ancient times, the sanctuary of Zoroastrians - fire worshipers (approximately the beginning of our era) was located on this territory. They attached mysterious significance to unquenchable fire and came here to worship the shrine. After the adoption of Islam, the temple of Zoroastrians was destroyed. Many Zoroastrians left for India and continued their faith there.

Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex Gala

On the territory of the reserve covering 156 hectares, there are those belonging to the period from the III millennium BC. Until the twentieth century, mounds, crypts, houses, 4 structures for storing water, the ruins of an ancient castle, 5 mosques, 3 baths and more. To preserve these monuments, as well as further enrich the reserve through archaeological finds discovered in Absheron, in 2008, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the first open-air archaeological and ethnographic complex was created here. The museum complex occupies 2 hectares of territory.

Yanardag

Yanardag is one of the most amazing natural attractions of the Absheron Peninsula. It is a mountain slope engulfed in flames, which cannot be extinguished either by rain or falling asleep with sand, burning for several millennia. The frightening and at the same time bewitching fiery landscape is actually explained very simply: natural gas is released from the upper layers of the soil, turning into flame when it comes into contact with oxygen.
