At the end of October 2004 in Southern California, General Motors officially introduced the Hummer H3 SUV. According to the American classification, the third Hummer belongs to the mid-size off-road vehicles - it is 40 cm shorter, 16 cm narrower, and 15 cm lower than the Hummer H2. The designers have remained faithful to the military-style - the third Hummer is one hundred percent recognizable. But there are no revelations in the interior design of the SUV - the H3 has a completely traditional passenger interior. At the heart of the car is an upgraded chassis of serial pickups-twins of Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon: a spar frame, traditional for pickups torsion bar front suspension, and dependent spring rear, all-wheel drive transmission with a plug-in front axle, a reduction gear, and a self-locking rear differential.

The popular H3 family is complemented by a more powerful modification of the H3 Alpha. As before, the basic version of the all-wheel-drive 5-seater H3 is equipped with a 3.7-liter petrol "five" with a capacity of 242 liters. with., which is aggregated with a conventional manual transmission or hydromechanical 4-speed "automatic". The new H3 Alpha with an improved interior is equipped with a 5.3-liter V8 engine with 305 hp. and a 4-speed "automatic". The standard equipment of the H3 Alpha includes a dynamic stabilization system and traction control. The assembly of the Hummer H3, in addition to the USA, was also organized in South Africa.
