The village was established in 1909 by Russian settlers in Guba District of Baku Governorate. The name "Nabran" is probably derived from the Russian word "nabirat", meaning that people were hired to catch sturgeon for the royal table. Forced fishermen were placed in the village of the same name. Fishing was carried out in the village until the 70s of the 20th century.

The village is located in a unique location - in some places, a relict forest, represented mainly by elms and beech trees, directly approaches the sea. Endemic oak trees are common. The beach is separated from the village by a marshy strip formed by springs gushing from the ground. Fish, water turtles and rabbits live in the swamps.
