Culture of Jalilabad

Jalilabad district has a rich and unique culture, combining the customs and traditions of nomadic tribes and sedentary peoples who have lived in this area for centuries.

Jalilabad district is one of the centers of Azerbaijani mugham. Ashig music is also widespread in the area. Ashigs perform folk songs and tales, accompanying themselves on the saz.

Handicrafts:

• Carpet weaving: is one of the traditional arts of Jalilabad district. Jalilabad carpets are distinguished by their bright colors and intricate patterns.

Ceramics is also a traditional art of Jalilabad district. Here they make earthenware dishes, jugs, figurines and other products.

• Novruz is the main holiday of the Azerbaijani people, celebrated in the spring months. In Jalilabad district, Novruz is celebrated on a special scale. People prepare festive tables, wear new clothes, and give gifts to each other.

Khidir Nabi is another famous Azerbaijani holiday, celebrated twice a year - in spring and autumn. Today, people go for walks, have barbecues, and play games.
