Oghuz region is one of the beautiful corners of Azerbaijan, known for its watery rivers and valleys, thermal springs and waterfalls, sulfur springs of therapeutic importance, hard rocks, rich flora, and fauna.
Oghuz region has always attracted attention with its natural beauty, emerald green forests, slopes, ice-like thermal and sulphurous springs, and waterfalls, the region is the homeland of the medicinal plant that cures a thousand ailments.
There are many historical monuments in the area of the region with a mysterious nature. The Albanian temple in the city of Oguz, the three-story tower of the 9th century in the village of Mukhas, and the defensive fortress of Govur of the 7th century in the village of Khachmaz are among the most important historical monuments.
Folk art traditions such as carpet weaving, metal and wood carving, and jewelry are continued in the region. In some villages, local artisans weave carpets, sweaters, scarves, and other products.
Oghuz district, located in a beautiful and picturesque corner of Azerbaijan, is located 268 km from Baku city. Forests make up 40% of the area of the region, which has unique natural beauty. The territory of the district is located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus.
It often rains in spring and autumn in the region, and droughts are rare. There are no sharp transitions from hot to cold.
The territory of the district starts from the top of Malkamud mountain, which has a frost of -52 degrees and extends to Agdash district, which has a temperature of +42 degrees.
Bears, wild boars, and mountain goats can be found in the forests of the region, which is rich in flora and fauna, and there are also catfish and trout in its rivers.
There are 39 archaeological and architectural monuments in the region. 17 of these monuments are archeological and architectural monuments of national importance, and 15 are monuments of local importance.
The Dashuz bridge over the Sarisu river (XIX century), the mosque in the village of Sinjan (XVIII century), the mausoleum in the village of Karimli (XV century), the ancient synagogue (1849) in the territory of Oghuz city, the Albanian temple, which currently houses the local history museum, are the ancient history of the region.
