Lankaran

The city is short on must-see attractions but exudes a laid-back charm, has some fine-value accommodation, is full of relentlessly hospitable people, and serves as a springboard for visiting the Talysh Mountains. The date of the foundation of the city is not known. It is only known that it was a part of Caucasian Albania and was the center of the Talish khanate in the 18th century.

The city is famous for Lankaran Castle (XVII century) and Kichik Bazar mosque (XIX century). 100 km away from Lankaran - castle walls (XII-XIV centuries), Pir Husein's mosque and tomb, minaret, Sheikh Zubaid's tomb, and other ancient structures are preserved.
