Astara DESTINATION
Astara is one of our southern regions distinguished by Talysh mountain forests, clean air, flowing rivers, unique food, and hospitable people. Hot water, which cures various diseases, is one of the most visited places in the region by tourists with its other mineral and thermal springs.
Astara region consists of lowland and mountain zones. The Caspian Sea is in the east of the region, and the richly forested Talysh range of mountains is in the west. Dishes made from rare species of fish found in the Caspian Sea have made Astara cuisine popular everywhere. The well-known springs along the coast of the Caspian Sea and in the forests are among the most beautiful places of rest for visitors and tourists to the region. The hot water of Astara, which is a cure for various diseases, is known all over the Republic.
Ironwood is the king of the rare trees that grow in Astara forests. Demiragac is a type of tree of strategic importance, besides giving beauty to these forests. Astara is now famous all over the world for its ecologically clean and high-quality tea.
Aromatic Astara rice cultivated in traditional rice fields of Astara is a decoration of the tables. Lemon, orange, kiwi, kinkan, feijoa, and other citrus fruits grown in Astara are appreciated in the markets of the Republic and foreign countries. The culinary culture of Astara has always attracted attention as it is colorful and unique. "hand bread", "lavengi" and its various types, borani pilaf, and other local dishes cooked in a clay oven are favorite dishes of visitors to the region.
Most of Hirkan National Park is in the Astara district. The most precipitation in Azerbaijan is observed in the south of the Lankaran plain, in the Astara area.
The "Yanar bulag" complex is one of many rare geological objects of the Astara region. This complex is located in the southern part of Erchivan village of Astara region. As methane gas comes out in the spring along with sulfurous water, when the flame is brought close to the water, the gas released from the water ignites like a torch. There is great interest in this spring, both by the local population and by travelers.
The rocky village of Sim village is famous for its healing springs and abundant waterfalls. The village of Sim is called the nature museum under the open sky of Astara. Mossy rocks and trees also add a magical atmosphere to the village. In the village, you can have a picnic around the Sim waterfall or visit the samovar tea. UAZ and Niva cars organized by local people will help you to go to the waterfall on impassable and narrow roads and trails.
In addition, you can enjoy the view of the perfect beauty in the reservoir located on Sim Village Road. One of the other interesting places in Sim Village is the White Bridge. Here you can sit in the middle of the river, taste the local Astara River, and enjoy nature. The tangerine groves along the way will leave you feeling welcome, and if you visit during the season, you can also buy some of the organic fruit grown here in the groves. In addition, parking the car and watching the breathtaking view of the Caspian Sea from the top of the mountain is also on the "must-do" list here.
